Eden Bradley, BDSM Writers Con, Golden Flogger Award

Eden Bradley

Golden Flogger Award Nominee

Book:  Dangerously Bound

Do you participate in D/s activities or merely write about them?
I’m very much ‘out’ about the fact that I’ve been involved in kink for most of my adult life. I believe it lends a deeper understanding to my kink books that comes through on the page.

Where did you get your information on this lifestyle?
From many years of research and participation in the lifestyle. I don’t (can’t!) base every single thing I write about on personal experience, but I try to do so as often as possible. If it’s something that’s a hard limit, or in past years when it’s been something I hadn’t yet had the opportunity to try, I’ve spoken with my fellow kinksters and read books, looked at websites. But sometimes ‘research’ can be interesting and a little strange! I once had a friend who was very into rope (I have back issues so I’m not bendy enough) come over to my house and get down on my office floor to demonstrate hogtie positions for DANGEROUSLY BOUND. And I recently spoke to two kinky mechanics about some heavy equipment used to pull dents out of cars (my readers will see why when the next book in my Dangerous Romance series DANGEROUSLY BROKEN comes out. Never a dull moment!Eden Bradley--Book 1

What does being nominated for the Golden Flogger Award mean to you?
It means readers who specifically enjoy reading kink like one of my books! I’m thrilled! Even more thrilled-and to be honest, a bit intimidated-after seeing the other amazing authors nominated in my category.

Do you conduct any advocacy work in this lifestyle or is it strictly fiction base for you? If so, what?
Yes, absolutely. I do workshops and panels on the ‘real’ side of BDSM, addressing safe practices in particular. I’ve been on Playboy Radio and on podcasts discussing sexual positivity for women, including kink practice. I’ve also done demos at romance writer’s conferences as well as kink events. I really love doing open discussion panels with other authors who are involved in kink where we get to talk with both readers and writers. There’s something about women talking with women that helps people to open up and ask the questions that need to be asked.

Tell us a little about yourself and your writing works.
I’ve been writing-and writing kink-for a number of years. I published my first book in 2004, then in 2007 my BDSM novel THE DARK GARDEN came out, and it’s probably still my most popular book to date. I’ve written a number of non-kink books (THE LOVERS, EXOTICA, FORBIDDEN FRUIT, A 21ST CENTURY COURTESAN, FALLEN ANGEL, WINTER SOLSTICE), as well as several menage ebooks (like TEMPT ME TWICE, GETTING SCROOGED and SUMMER SOLSTICE), but mostly I write kink. It’s such a part of me-it’s what I know best, what comes most naturally. BDSM has worked its way into my Midnight Playground vampire series, other than the first in that series, and my most recent one, ROGUE, is really hard-core (it’s also my first purely male/male). But vampires can take things a human body couldn’t possibly, which gives me a LOT of room to play-fun!

Right now I’m working on editing DANGEROUSLY BROKEN and waiting for next release, OBSESSION (from Samhain Publishing) in February. It’s the first book in my new Ink & Iron series-rock stars, tattoos, motorcycles and a little kink, of course!

What else about me, aside from the kink? I may have a few extra fetishes-lol! I love shoes, and lately that means boots-stiletto heels, of course, but there’s also something sort of bad-ass about a pair of knee-high flat boots, especially with some laces or good hardware on them. I also am having a mad love affair with lip gloss-hello Sephora VIB points! I’m a bit of an art geek, and I’m mad about costuming, especially anything steampunk! You can see examples of that on my group blog www.Smutketeers.com -just check out the photo galleries. If any of you follow me on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/AuthorEdenBradley.EveBerlin) or Twitter (https://twitter.com/EdenBradley) you’ve probably been inundated with pics of my Boston Terrier puppy Voodoo, the current love of my life, but I have my fingers crossed for the human sort one of these days. Meanwhile, I have plenty of fun with good friends-life ain’t all bad. 😉

Thanks so much for the Golden Flogger nomination-I am thrilled and honored! Thanks also for having me here to chat today!
