Roz Lee

We had a chance to catch up with Roz Lee and get some fabulous info for you. If you didn’t know it, Roz has been nominated for our Best BDSM Book of the Year Golden Flogger Award in 2015 with Spring Training: Mustang Baseball #5 and for 2016 with Suspended Games.

Why did you begin writing BDSM novels?
I’m almost afraid to answer this question! I know other writers won’t blink an eye at my response, but others will probably think it’s time to call the people in the white coats to come get me. J I wrote my first BDSM novel because the characters told me to. See? I told you it was going to sound crazy. I don’t ‘decide’ to write any particular type of story. My characters make the decision for me. I write who they are, not who I want them to be.

What does being nominated for the Golden Flogger Award mean to you?
I’m beyond honored to be nominated for the Golden Flogger Award. I try to be genuine in my portrayal of the lifestyle, and having readers recognize my effort means everything to me.

What is the hardest part of writing your novel?RozLee2
LOL Every single word is the hardest part! It’s not just the hours spent at the keyboard, immersed in the lives of my characters, but the time—sometimes years—spent researching everything from sex toys to public transportation in Washington, D.C. in 1936 and forming the characters and their story in my head before I commit a single word to paper.

Tell us a little about yourself and your writing works.
After raising two girls to be kick-ass women, I took up the challenge of telling stories. It was either that or get a real job! Seriously, I’ve always been a reader, and filled the empty hours of parenting (waiting in the car to pick the girls up from school, waiting in the stands for softball practice or dance class to be over, waiting, waiting, waiting) with books. As the girls got older and their lives more hectic, I found romance novels the easiest to read in the micro-moments available to me. Because her books were Roz Lee 3in the library, I cut my erotic romance teeth on the works of Thea Devine. After receiving my first Kindle as Christmas present, I found a wealth of erotic romance available in ebook format.

I didn’t set out to write erotic romance, but as I said before, the characters, and in the case of The Lust Boat, the setting, determined the heat level of the story. Some authors are intimidated by sex scenes, but they’re the most fun part of the book for me! I let my imagination run wild—within the bounds of human possibility, of course!

Will you be attending BDSM Writers Con or other events we can meet you at?
