Golden Flogger Award Nominee
Why did you begin writing BDSM novels?
I stumbled across BDSM when I discovered authors like Cherise Sinclair and Sophie Oak. My fictional interest soon turned to a real interest and through this discovery, I was able to understand and accept parts about myself that I had always struggled with. It was only natural that I wanted to put this new found interest into my writing and hopefully open other people eyes the way that BDSM novels have mine.
What does being nominated for the Golden Flogger Award mean to you?
It means a lot to me to nominated and see my name amongst all the other great authors. Hopefully this means I’m doing something right and people are enjoying my book.
What is the hardest part of writing your novel?
Apart from trying to find quiet around my husband and two kids, I think it’s putting a piece of yourself out into the world and hoping people like it. I also get distracted easily and sometimes it can take me all day to write half a page, because I’m always off doing something else.
Tell us a little about yourself and your writing works.
I live in Melbourne, Australia. I have been a chef for over ten years and am new to the writing world. I have always wanted to write and never found the right time. I carried the idea for my first book around with me for ages before I finally started actually writing. It has only been this year that I really moved forward with my writing. My first book Foul Play was written and published by Siren BookStrand in 2013 and since then the flood gates have opened. The Trouble with Holly is the third book in the Merricks, Montana series, with many more to come. I have three other series that I am working on and have delved into the worlds of cowboys, paranormal, and fantasy on top of BDSM.
Will you be attending BDSM Writers Con or another event we can meet you at?
Living in Australia it is hard for me to attend events overseas. As much as I’d love to attend the BDSM Writers con and more, a trip to America isn’t in the cards for me yet.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on the fourth Merricks, Montana story. It is about the owner of the towns BDSM club Wolf, his ex-marine buddy Hawk and a curvy baker Emily. She has three older brothers who can’t stay out of her business and a huge crush on Wolf and Hawk. Only problem is they think she isn’t cut out for the darker sides of their personalities. But who said love was supposed to be easy, and it’s a challenge she is willing to take. It should be fun to see Emily try and get around the two stubborn Doms.
McKinlay: I live in Melbourne, Australia with my husband, two children and a Maltese Jack Russell who can’t stop barking. I had my first idea for a story whilst working as a chef at the local pub. I have been addicted to reading since my ninth grade teacher read us The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. From then on I read anything I could get my hands on. Now, I love to read stories with a happy-ever-after ending, especially erotic romance. When I’m not running after my kids, I usually can be found cooking, reading or writing.
