L.M. Somerton
Nominated for Golden Flogger Award

Why did you begin writing BDSM novels?
After deciding to try my hand at writing MM romance in response to a challenge from a friend, I did some reading in the genre. It was BDSM that I found the most interesting – the psychological dynamic of power exchange between men is fascinating. There are some brilliant and inspiring authors in the genre and they gave me something to aspire to.

What does being nominated for the Golden Flogger Award mean to you?
It’s a huge thrill to be nominated. I’m still a relatively new author and this kind of recognition encourages me to keep writing. It’s a lovely feeling!

What is the hardest part of writing your novel?
For me it’s finding the time to sit and focus on writing. I have a full-time day job, so spare time is rare. It can be difficult to get a flow going and maintain a consistent style when the writing has to be done in bits and pieces.

Tell us a little about yourself and your writing works.
I’m English and I live in a rural part of the country. I’m married with one teenage daughter and a cat that likes nothing better than to sleep on my keyboard. I have published more than ten books with Totally Bound, all in the MM genre, and all with varying degrees of BDSM. My nominated book is the first in a series of three involving two detectives involved in a D/s relationship.

Will you be attending BDSM Writers Con or other events we can meet you at?
I really wish I could be there but unfortunately flight costs are prohibitive. I’ll be attending UK Meet in September and hope to connect with some readers then. BDSM Writers Con will be on my wish list for the future.
