LIVE Kinky Chat with JM Schroder

JM Schroder, BDSM Writers Con, paranormal, kinkCheck out our LIVE Kinky Chat with BDSM author, JM Schroder and Dr. Charley Ferrer, host of BDSM Writers Con. Please feel free to ask a few questions of your own or contact them directly.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:  I was wondering, when you write your books, where do you get your inspiration from?

JM Schroder:   I get my inspiration from real life experiences. That is a lot of the reason there is a lot of darkness to some of my stories. But there is also a lot of comedy… oh and Sex.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:  laughs… sex is good

JM Schroder:  It is good. Very good!

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   When you say “darkness” what do you mean?

JM Schroder:  In Jasmine it starts out with her being assaulted outside the club she is visiting. It has a lot of my demons in there.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:  aah so it’s not the BDSM that’s dark but that there are some not so good situations that occur. If I remember correctly, your book Jasmine was nominated for the Golden

JM Schroder:   Yes. The BDSM is very fun and playful in this one. I have one that I am working on now which is the sequel to this one or actually one of the sequels that kind of explores the darker side of play.

JM Schroder:   Yes it was. I was so humbled by the nomination.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   I remember reading it then. It was very good.

JM Schroder:   Thank you so much Charley Ferrer

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   The darker…edgier side of D/s is something that is hard to convey at times. Many think it’s about being abusive or just “beating the hell out of your partner” when it’s nothing like that. It’s merely about enjoying a more primal connection. ok, I had to do a little education please there. smiles. Can you share a little about what your new story will be? Not spoilers, but just where the story is going

JM Schroder:   I actually go into the release of a sub that enjoys knife play as a release and it is not a healthy release for her. It is her way of dealing but she can’t do it for herself so she goes to a club to do it to basically help her forget the pain she has endured. It is something very hard to write but I think it needs to be talked about.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   When done correctly and from a healthy perspective, edge play can be very cathartic

JM Schroder:   I know I have learned over time but the character in the book is doing it from an unhealthy mental state

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   Unfortunately some authors do it from a purely abusive perspective (which is a criminal act.) and call it D/s. NOT that you’re doing that, but I’ve seen it done too often by authors that don’t know what D/s is and haven’t done their research. Are you discussing the difference?

JM Schroder:  Yes. And it is bringing her around to a healthy state of mind and using as a healthy and pleasurable experience and knowing the difference or more like learning the difference

Dr. Charley Ferrer:    “learning the different” that’s great. It sounds like an interesting book.

JM Schroder:    It has been a very hard one to write

Dr. Charley Ferrer:  I’ve seen far too many people enter the D/s community as a way to battle their demons. And though BDSM can help you grow stronger, especially if you find the right Dom/me for you; the community shouldn’t be used as a “therapy” session. I always recommend you go to a few therapy sessions, if that’s what you’re needing, and then come into the community as this way you’ll be safer and so will your partner

JM Schroder:   And that is what this girl is learning in the book. Again my demons coming out.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   This is true for Dom or sub

JM Schroder:  So true.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   I’m pleased your “demons” are being use full and helping others

JM Schroder:   I’ve had many years to over come a lot and writing is my therapy. And the things I write are from my own perspective and they are each a big part of me overcoming.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   That’s great. I’m sure your fans will love it.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   You mentioned before a few other books you have. Can you tell me a little about them?

JM Schroder:   I am hoping so far my beta’s love them. I’ve made them cry and laugh.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   I hate when a book makes me cry. Yet, that just means it’s spectacular. smiles

JM Schroder:   I also write paranormal romance kind of. It is a twist on the bible which is not everyone’s cup of tea, but I was raised in a very religious home and I have read it multiple times.
I love a good cry as long as it is comes to somewhat of a happy ending. I don’t like perfect endings.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   I believe Tiffany Reisz’ Sinner series had a bit of religion in her themes and they are fabulous

JM Schroder:   I hope you do and feel free to tell me what you thought.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   Tell me a little about this book.  I do so love paranormals. It’s why I ensured we have a category for it in the

JM Schroder:   This is the first book in it and it starts out with four sisters that have lived long lives but look no older than 35. And they have no clue why. Only to find out that they come from people they did not believe exist.
JM Schroder:    JM Schroder, BDSM Writers Con, paranormal, kink
Daughters of Eden – In the Beginning.  That is the second book in that series and that goes back to the beginning. This has it all. Even a little spanking by the first man.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   Oh have to share this blurb with everyone about ThunderStorm
What you thought you knew about the BIBLE is about to CHANGE.
What if you found out you were the granddaughter of the first woman. No, not Eve, but Lilith? After 150 years Dika Edens, the oldest of 4 girls each destined to live forever finds out that very thing. She is not sure if it is a curse or a gift from the Gods. All she knows is the man that has informed her of this has way too much guilt on his shoulders regarding her and her past. Chrome is her Guardian, but that does not mean he can protect her from everything. He should be the first one to know that – since he is the one telling her that she must save the world.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:  That sounds like such a fascinating story. I’ll definitely add it to my must read. Tell us a little about yourself. What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing paranormal and BDSM books?

JM Schroder:  It has been recently re-edited and published and I have to give a shout out to my editor, thank you so very much.

Dr. Charley Ferrer: Tell us a little about yourself.

JM Schroder I work, take care of my three wonderful children and my husband.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   wow…so you’re Wonder Woman incognito.  smiles. That must be really long hours.

JM Schroder:    Very long hours. But it is all worth it. I pretty much love my life at the moment. I have good friends and a wonderful family (some which are blood but the majority are not.)

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   that’s always wonderful thing to have and enjoy

JM Schroder:   It’s kept me grounded and sane

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   So here are some of the questions people ask me during interviews: they might be a bit silly but they’re playful and insightful as well. If you were a D/s toy, which would you be and why?

JM Schroder:    A paddle, firm but if used with care I will make you feel loved and worshiped

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   that’s excellent.  What BDSM activity do you enjoy most and why?

JM Schroder:   I love bondage with breath play (which I do not recommend unless your Dom knows what he is doing and you are not afraid to give your safe word or que and (yes another one) he/she knows you and knows your signs of distress.)  Oh and CPR. Very important

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   I’m so pleased you said that part, “…and you are not afraid to give your safe word or que…” I often find newbies or hardcore slaves are afraid to call their safe word because they don’t want to disappoint their Dominant/Master/Mistress. And yet, it’s not just about the slave/sub trusting the Dominant but the Dominant trusting the slave. And that’s one of those trust factors

JM Schroder:   Yes it is.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   Is there any advise you wish to share?

JM Schroder:   Don’t go in blind. You as a person know what you enjoy, push your limits but don’t go past your hard limits until your comfortable. Don’t ever go into a Dom/sub relationship without knowing their past and training. Don’t do it for therapy or because it is the in thing. Do your research on the lifestyle not all of it is for everyone and it is not for everyone. BE SAFE

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   That’s fabulous advise. I remember when I first entered the community, I read everything I could get my hands on. I still have two shelves full of non-fiction BDSM books

JM Schroder:   It is not like the pictures, it is not like the books, you have to communicate. whether

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   That is so true. Communication communication Communication

JM Schroder:   It is constant communication. Also, not every good Dom/sub is good for you, you have to enjoy the same things or want the same things.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   It’s like wearing shoes. Not every pair is the right fit even if they are sooooooo beautiful

JM Schroder:   So true

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   I invite others to ask questions (now or later) as I’ll post this on our website, www.BDSMWritersCon.com for others to enjoy.  As we wind down for our interview, why not give us your contact info where people can email you or review and purchase your books.

JM Schroder:   eden.press@yahoo.com and Facebook.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   Will you be joining us for BDSM Writers Con in Everett or New York City next year?

JM Schroder:   I am hoping to make it to the Everett location. I tried last year, but like I said I have three children and one is Autistic so it makes it very difficult to go places because of his need for me.

Dr. Charley Ferrer:   For those that don’t know yet, BDSM author Jenna Jacob will be joining us as Keynote Speaker for Everett, March 23-26, 2017 and Lynda Aicher will be our Keynote Speaker for New York City August 17-20, 2017
