Linzi Bassett
Golden Flogger Award 2016 nominee
for His Cherished Sub
Why did you begin writing BDSM novels?
I originally began writing erotic contemporary romances under a different pseudonym, which leaned to serious Alpha males and dominance. I realized the way I wrote did not always appeal to that market and decided to explore the BDSM genre. I have read every Cerise Sinclair, Sienna Cartwright, Lexi Blake and many more long time BDSM writer books and realized it was what appealed to me. I wrote the first four books within a period of two months and had so much fun, I knew I found my niche.
Do you participate in D/s activities or merely write about them?
I participate in D/s activities through my writing, it is an amazing trip and one I enjoy with every book I write. One day, with the right partner, there are certain activities I’d like to explore. Wink*wink.
Where did you get your information on this lifestyle?
The Internet is amassed with information on this lifestyle, but I also have the assistance of my wonderful editor, who is in the lifestyle herself.
What does being nominated for the Golden Flogger Award mean to you?
I have been writing in this genre for less than a year and to be nominated is an honor in itself. It indicates to me that there are readers that enjoy not just my style of writing, but the stories that I write. That in itself is all the motivation I need to continue producing stories to titillate everyone’s palettes!
Do you conduct any advocacy work in this lifestyle or is it strictly fiction base for you? If so, what?
Currently it is strictly fiction base for me, but what is extremely important is to try and ensure that the correct message about the genre is conveyed to the readers. The fact that the scenes in there stories are consensual, agreed to in advance and in no form or format constitutes abuse. Safe, sane and consensual is the only way to enter into a BDSM relationship.
Will you be attending BDSM Writers Con or other events we can meet you at?
I’d like to be able to attend and am going to do my utmost to attend the BDSM Writers Con in August 2016.
