BDSM Writers Con Featured Author

 

Why did you begin writing BDSM novels? 
I began writing BDSM novels as an avenue of self-discovery.  I started researching online and reading erotic romance novels with a BDSM theme and I found the stories very enticing.  I realized my submissive tendencies then 🙂 In conjunction with my own self-discovery, I was put off by the negative connotations, which surrounded BDSM and the lifestyle.  I made the decision then to be a voice of change and I fell I can add something different to the D/s dynamic.  I started writing down and expressing my own desires and fantasies.

Will you be attending BDSM Writers Con or another event we can meet you at?
Yes, I’ve already registered for next year’s BDSM writers’ con 🙂 Last year’s writers’ con helped me so much—I jumped at the opportunity to register again… I’m happy to be apart of this family, this community.  Oh, I will also be an author co-paneling at next year’s BDSM writers’ con.  I hope what I’ve learned will be conveyed in my future stories and help other authors, fans and members in the community—to see how beautiful BDSM truly is.

What are you working on now?
I’m currently working on a new series, ’SAVED’ is the title of book one. When I began writing Sean and Shervon’s story, it was about a Dominant and his submissive over coming obstacles and it was first going to be a stand alone novel.  As I stated to layout my character profiles, and started typing… the story took an entire different turn.  When I starting typing ideas were pouring out like crazy.  I realized I had a series developing rather than a stand alone novel. Book one of the series, is through the eyes of Sherovn Jones.  She has suffered the worst kind of tragedy and raised form the aches stronger than she realizes.  Life was just passing her by, until she met her future…Sean Harris.

I have been posting chapters from book one on Facebook, my official blog page etc.  I am fairly new to the world of writing and I am working hard on promoting my name and brand.  I have a lot to learn and prove…to myself, fans and other authors who write in the same genre.

What are your plans for 2015? 
I have quite a few plans. As I mention previously, I am currently working on a new series. I hope to have book one published sometime early or mid-next year.  I also plan to have the second collection of my erotic poetry series published as well.  I have so many stories and characters who ‘want their day in court’ as the saying goes.  I’m taking it one step at a time.

Cara Downey is a new author who’s erotic poetry puts a smile on your face and a song in your heart. She is dedicated to her readers and determined to discover as much about the lifestyle of Dominance and submission to provide realistic characters in her upcoming novels. She is a self-published author working on her new book series. Her work was also published in the First Annual BDSM Writers Con Anthology.
