B.B. Blaque speaks out

Do you participate in D/s activities or merely write about them?
I participate in the life more than the lifestyle. Meaning, I rarely attend play parties in my current area but I do live M/s. There is play involved but ours is more about the power exchange dynamic without a lot of impact play involved. My heart/mindset is that of a slave. I would like to become more involved in the local community.

Where did you get your information on this lifestyle?
From living the life and lifestyle over the course of years I’ve learned a lot. I’ve also observed other relationships(M/s; D/s; vanilla and pseudo forms of each)  and draw those from my memory bank as well. I noticed the things I thought about the lifestyle before entering it were different than I’d imagined once I was living it (in a good way.)

What does being nominated for the Golden Flogger Award mean to you?
Excitement and happiness are two words that come to mind quickly. When I began writing I hoped what I created would move people, make them feel, make them think and possibly rethink. Being nominated gives more people the opportunity to see the perspective from which I paint my stories and maybe my hope will be realized. I try to write from a point of view that says, “Hey, I get it, we’re all flawed—but ya’ know what, it’s okay.” The point is not to fix the person into extinction—but to find the true self, cracks and all, and strengthen it in a union that is ultimately better because there is a power exchange relationship.BB_Blaque_Always

Do you conduct any advocacy work in this lifestyle or is it strictly fiction base for you? If so, what?
I’ve participated in fundraisers in the past when I lived in L.A., the bake sale was most fun—I baked seven cakes in a week—my Master allowed the kitchen to remain in upheaval for our local dungeon.

I’d like to start some things locally, but until I become involved with the local scene more regularly it will be difficult. I do have ideas in mind.

I hope in some way my writing will be a form of advocacy. Showing how the life can be beautiful, how surrender or dominance doesn’t mean one is weak or the other is abusive. If someone who doesn’t know can read and understand they may be able to pick out the difference between domineering and dominant; discipline and abuse; submission and being a doormat.

Tell us a little about yourself and your writing works.
I won’t go into too much more here since my author page has most of it. I am editing a novel “Golden Doll” that shows the main character beginning to explore M/s. (the Not Even Death series shows a seasoned slave after her Master dies.) There is the “Masters M.C.” series coming this summer as well as some short stories—one involving desserts.

Will you be attending BDSM Writers Con or other events we can meet you at?
I certainly hope to be! So far the plan to take a bite out of the Big Apple seems to be moving forward!

BB_Blaque_Eternally_1A personal note from B.B.:
I’ve been a life-style slave for many years and most likely submissive, in some way, for the majority of my life.

I write about transformation and the life journeys of my characters. These metamorphoses occur through love and surrender. The surrender can come from submission or from surrendering to the true self—learning to embrace one’s own personal journey (whatever it may be.)

I love BDSM (Male dominant/female submissive.) I find it fulfilling and sexy when a man wears the pants in a relationship. It’s afforded me the ability to tap into my girly side and bask in that freedom.

I’m even more interested in the psychological aspects of relationships in general and especially when there’s a power-exchange dynamic.

With this in mind I do my best to write stories with many layers and subtleties and paint from palettes I’ve seen in real world M/s relationships (including my own.) www.bbblaque.com
