Kinky Chats with Alaska Angelini

Alaska AngeliniAlaska Angelini speaks out about her Golden Flogger Award nomination, BDSM and more…

Tell us a little about yourself and your writing works.

Hello, my name is Alaska Angelini. I write all shades of BDSM, from light to dark. Most of my work settles around the darker side (breath play, knife play, and even blood play). Although some readers find it isn’t for them, I have had an amazing amount of readers message me and let me know that they found my work highly fascinating. It gives me pleasure to allow them to explore fantasies they’re afraid to try in real life.

Why did you begin writing BDSM novels?
From the very first book I ever attempted writing, I found BDSM playing a role. Although I never published that one, the stories that followed weren’t far off. I didn’t fully go BDSM until my Dark Days Ranch series published with Siren Publishing. I finally decided that I was going to let go and write erotica how I truly wanted. I haven’t looked back since.

What is the hardest part of writing your novel?
When I first started writing, I’d zoom through a story, so excited when I got to the end. I was afraid of somehow messing it up, that I’d do revisions, but usually didn’t mess with the actual story I’d written. I learned my lesson the hard way. It came to a point where I knew, no matter how good I thought it was by the time I finished the actual story…it could be better. I had to slow down. Now I go through each story a good three to five times, adding chapters and polishing it up, that way readers get the best story I’m capable of.

What does being nominated for the Golden Flogger Award mean to you?
Answer: When I received the message, my jaw hit the floor. I am shocked that SIX of my books have been nominated. When I believed it was one, I was excited beyond belief, but six, I was floor. This award means so much to me. I’ve tried to stay true to the way I view BDSM. I’ve taken pride in writing my scenes and making sure things are perfect. It makes me happy that my readers enjoyed them enough to nominate my work.

Will you be attending BDSM Writers Con or other events we can meet you at?
Answer: I would love to attend BDSM Writers Con! I’m actually looking into it now and hope to see everyone there!

Alaska is an erotic BDSM author who also goes by the pen names Jennifer Salaiz and Jenny May. She lives in the Houston area…for now. She’s a dreamer, and longs for the day when her husband and kids can load up in the car and drive until their hearts’ content. Adventure and discovering new places play a huge role in Alaska’s life. It drives her, and feeds the creativity of coming up with new locations for her stories.

Within the last two years, Alaska and her family have driven across the country twice, and also drove the distance from Texas to California four times. Asked, if she could choose one place to permanently settle down, where it would be, Alaska laughed. “Montana, today. Tomorrow, it may be Maine, again. I go back and forth.”  When Alaska’s not dreaming of spontaneously hitting the road to find a new place to write about, she’s being a mother and wife.
