“Write what you know.” How many times have you heard that piece of advice? That tip can be helpful, but more often than not, our story ideas take us outside the safe little boxes of what we know and plunge us deep into what we don’t know. I don’t practice BDSM and I’ll never be a gay male, but that doesn’t stop me from writing about both topics. Together, we’ll walk through the process of acquiring knowledge and hushing our own internal doubts to craft believable stories around subject we don’t intimately know.

Lynda Aicher is a multipublished author who loves to write emotionally charged romances. Her novels have been featured in USA Today, Publishers Weekly and RT Book Reviews magazine. She has finaled in the Romance Writers of America’s RITA contest and has won the RT Reviewers’ Choice Award and BDSM Writers Con’s Golden Flogger Award. Prior to becoming an author, she spent years traveling weekly as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies before opting to end her nomadic lifestyle in order to raise her children. Now, her imagination is the only limitation on where she can go, and her writing lets her escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffeur, scheduler, cook, teacher, cleaner, and mediator.
