Why did you begin writing BDSM Novels?
I actually starting working on writing a BDSM Novel in 2005 because I wanted to put down in writing the events which led up to my marriage to my now slave/husband. I actually played with it for years, and didn’t get the courage to actually publish that Novel on Amazon (At Her Beck and Call) till 2012. I felt that if I could put into writing what happened to me, then maybe it would help other women to take control of their marriage and relationships. After “At Her Beck and Call” was published, I was blown away by the tremendous response by readers, and as they say, the rest was history. I then went on to write fourteen more books, some fiction, and some self-help novels in the marriage and interpersonal relationship categories.
Do you participate in D/s activities or merely write about them?
I definitely have participated in all of the activities which I write about in my novels.
I have conducted Female Domination Sessions for submissive men in my Dungeon for years, in addition to dominating my slave/husband. I have a First Class fully equipped Dungeon in Pueblo, Colorado, and I maintain a Deluxe Dungeon Suite which couples rent by the night, which meets all of their needs, and is basically an Adult Playground. I have participated in BDSM activities in PA, WA, GA, and CO on a regular basis.
Where did you get you information on this lifestyle?
I acquired my knowledge from my personal experiences, from reading everything about BDSM which I could get my hands on, and from attending Munches, Play Parties, and Fetish Conferences. After years of being a Professional Dominatrix, while at the same time running a Female Led Household, I draw on my years of experience when I write Fiction and Non-Fiction BDSM Novels.
Do you conduct any advocacy work in the this lifestyle, or is it strictly fiction base for you?
Yes, I practice what I preach. First off, I am constantly acting as a Mentor to other women who want to learn how to take control of their relationships, either on a personal or professional level. I have trained two aspiring Mistresses in the last year, and I answer approximately 200 emails a day from people looking for help in embracing the Femdom lifestyle. My profile page on Fet-Life is constantly besieged with questions and requests for help by both men and women who need guidance in the FemDom and Female Led Relationship area.
What is the hardest part of writing your novels?
The toughest obstacle I face when writing a new novel is the time restraints which I face.
Sometimes I feel totally overwhelmed by everything that is on my plate. I try to discipline myself to set aside time each day to write, but many times I am distracted from my writings by the deluge of emails I receive asking for help in the BDSM lifestyle. In addition to writing novels, I still have to operate my Bed & Dungeon in Pueblo, Colorado and I have to maintain my presence on Fet-Life, Twitter, and FaceBook. It takes a tremendous number of hours each day to properly service those three social media accounts. I wish I could now spend all of my time writing, but I know that marketing the books which I have already written is a necessary part of being an author.
Thanks Dr. Charley for this opportunity.
I am so glad to see that your book “FemDom Law Firm” is being considered for an Award. You did an Awesome job in creating a BDSM book that also is a legal thriller, and the details about the law firm are incredibly accurate. I have already read the two sequels, and can’t wait for the next one to see where you take the characters. Your writing style is wonderful. The reader feels like he or she is right there experiencing what slave Nicholas is going through.
