Web Serial Toolbox

Serialized fiction is an old art form with a 21st century medium: the Internet. In this workshop we’ll discuss how a web serial can be a crucial cornerstone in building a writing career: not only why but how to run a web serial, the pros and cons (mostly pros) of serializing your fiction online, the difference between serializing novel you’ve already written in order to build readership or draw attention to a series and developing a serial and writing it in “real time”, the various platforms available for writers for serialization, ways to publicize your serial, monetizing your serial, free online tools, and much more.

Cecilia Tan was our Keynote Speaker in 2015. She returns to BDSM Writers Con as a participant and speaker this year. Susie Bright says Cecilia Tan is “simply one of the most important writers, editors, and innovators in contemporary American erotic literature.” Her BDSM romance novel Slow Surrender (Hachette/Forever, 2013) won the RT Reviewers Choice Award in Erotic Romance. Her books often explores sex, sensuality, and sexuality, among them: Black Feathers (HarperCollins), White Flames (Running Press), and Edge Plays (Circlet Press), The Prince’s Boy (Circlet Press), and The Hot Streak (Riverdale Avenue Books). Her short stories have appeared in Ms. Magazine, Nerve, Best American Erotica, Asimov’s Science Fiction, and tons of other places. Tan was inducted into the Saints & Sinners Hall of Fame for GLBT writers in 2010, was a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Leather Association in 2004.
